You are here: Chargemaster Toolkit Help > Tools > Filters > Filters
Filters
Filters allow you to display a subset of all the charge items. You can
then export or print the filtered set of charge items.
After you apply a filter, only charge entries that match the filter
appear on the screen. Any tab that contains a charge item that matches
the filter is shown with a green tick.
There are a number of different types of filter, described below:
GL Filter
This predefined filter lets
you choose to display only charge items that have a particular GL code.
To apply a GL filter, simply choose a GL type from the GL filter drop-down
menu on the main window Toolbar. To remove it, choose "All GLs"
from the same dropdown menu.
Custom
Filters
You can define your
own Basic or Advanced custom filters based on a range of criteria. You
can combine individual custom filters to create combined filters, allowing
you to specify a complex filter expression. Once created, you can name
and save your filter for later use. Use the Filter manager to create,
modify, delete and combine
custom filters. A number of standard filters are already included:
- A
filter for Charge items with HCPCS status Indicator of K or G—
'Additional Payment Drugs, Biologics, and BT Seeds'. These consist of
a mix of pass through and non-pass through items but all are eligible
for additional payment. If you apply this filter you will see a URL in
the long description for extra information.
- Corporate
Mappings— Display all charge items that are mapped to another
facilities charge item. This filter is used with the corporate module.
To create a custom filter
- Select Tools > Filter Manageror click
the icon to the right of the Filter drop-down menu. The Filter Manager
dialog box appears:
- Click Create. The Filter Wizard is launched.
- Choose whether
to create a Basic
or Advanced
filter, then follow the on-screen instructions to define and save your
filter.
- Once created,
your filter is listed under Available Filters in the Filter Manager.
The filter is also available in the drop down menu on the main menu.
To apply/remove a custom filter - Select the filter from the
second filter drop-down menu on the main window Toolbar.
- To remove it, choose No Filter from the same drop-down menu.
Fee Schedule Module Filters The optional Fee Schedule
Module contains three filters. These let you view charges based on
how they relate to published national and state fees. For example, you
could show only items being charged at less than the standard APC Payment
Rate.
Comparative Pricing Module The optional Comparative Pricing Module contains a filter that lets
you view charges based on how they compare to those at other facilities.
You can apply the GL, custom, Fee Schedule and Comparative Pricing filters
separately, or together. If you apply any of these together (for example,
apply a GL filter and a custom filter), then the Chargemaster
ManagerChargemaster
Toolkit will display only those charge items that match all filters
(in other words, the filters are combined in an AND operation).
After you apply a filter, only charge entries that match the filter
appear on the screen. Any tab that contains an item that matches the filter
is shown with a black tick
.
