Combining Custom Filters

You can combine two or more existing custom filters to create a more complex filter. This feature makes use of Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT.

AND means that both requirements must be true. OR means that any of the requirements must be true. NOT means that the requirement must not be true.

For example:

Show items that have a volume of > 1000 AND an HCPCS/CPT® code equal to "E" but which do NOT have a GL type equal to 66023
Show items that have pending changes made by Sue OR pending changes made by Jack.

To create a combined filter
1. Open the Filter Manager using Tools > Filter Manager, or by clicking the icon to the right of the Filter drop-down menu. The Filter Manager dialog box displays.
2. Click on the Combinebutton. The Combine Filters dialog box displays.
3. Select one of the filters you want to include in the combination, then click on the Addbutton. The filter name is added to the Filters to Combine area. Repeat for each additional filter you want to add.
By default, the filters are combined with an AND operator. To change this to an OR, click AND in the Operator column and select OR from the drop-down menu that appears.

If required, use the check boxes in the Except column to specify a NOT condition.
1. When you are done click on the OK button. Your combined filter is now listed under Available Filters in the Filter Manager.
Once your combined filter has been completed, it loses any links with the original filters used to build it. This means that editing or deleting one of the original filters will not affect the combined filter, and vice versa.
To modify a combined filter
1. Open the Filter Manager by selecting Tools > Filter Manager, or by clicking the icon to the right of the Filter drop-down list. The Filter Manager dialog box displays, showing all your existing custom filters under Available Filters.
2. Select the combined filter you want to modify. The filter's comments and description are displayed under Filter Details.
3. Click on the appropriate link in the filter description to modify that part of the combined filter.The Filter Wizard is launched.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to modify your filter.
Note that modifying part of a combined filter does not edit the original single filter.
