Revenue
Mismatch Tab
A charge item appears on this
tab if it contains a mismatch between its CPT®/HCPCS code and Revenue
code, or if it does not contain a Revenue code but uses a CPT®/HCPCS code
that requires one.
Revenue codes are developed
and maintained by the National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) and adopted
by CMS to standardize the financial groupings of services, accommodations
and items provided by Hospitals and other Health care providers.
Specific Revenue Code Tables
were developed to eliminate variation in the acceptance and use of certain
charges on institutional claims. The standardized Revenue code groupings
are based on a three-digit numerical structure ranging from 10x — 99x.
The first two digits represent the major category of the Charge and the
third digit represents a specific subcategory or department performing
the coded service.
To deal with an item
on this tab, perform one of the following actions:
To use the default Revenue
code
Right-click on the charge
item and choose Use Default Revenuefrom the menu that appears.
Chargemaster
Toolkit will give
the charge item the most acceptable Revenue code for the assigned CPT®
code, and will move the charge item to another tab - usually the Valid tab, the Compliance tab or the Linked tab.
To replace a Revenue code
Do
one of the following:
- Right-click
on the charge item and choose Replace Rev Code
x withfrom the menu that appears (where "x" is the
Revenue code itself). Then choose one of the options on the sub-menu.
The preferred option is shown at the top of the list. The current value
is shown grayed out on the list.
- Right-click
on the Rev Code field for the charge item and choose Edit
Revfrom the menu that appears. The Edit columns dialog box
appears. Type the replacement code. Choose OK.
- Type
the value into the Rev Code field.
The modified Service Charge
will automatically be moved into another working Tab. Track these movements
using the Follow Last Move
function (F4).
