A charge item appears on this tab if it contains one or more associated procedures that, if provided, should be billed for separately using additional CPT®/HCPCS codes or line charges.
Each charge item that appears on this tab is known as a linked code. The charge items that are associated with it are known as links.
When you add a link, the software usually creates a new charge item. In general, assuming that there are no problems, the new charge item is placed at the end of the Valid tab. However, in some cases, there may be further issues with the new charge item, in which case the software places it on an appropriate tab.
As you work down the charge items on this tab, it is possible to come across charge items that have already had all of the links added (due to your earlier creation of links for other charge items). For example, a pancreas biopsy could be done under CAT Scan, Ultrasound, or MRI guidance. The linked code (or biopsy) would be the same for all three radiology methods. If the suggested linked code(s) already exists in that department then you will be shown the message: "All links are already in hospital file". You can then Include the charge item to send it to the valid tab.
