Software updates
One of the unique characteristics of Chargemaster Toolkit™ is the ability
to control your own production environment (data files and software) while
continually staying current with changing rules and regulations. This
is accomplished through delivery of Toolkit updates every 7-10 working
days. Through these periodic updates Chargemaster Toolkit™ also offers
clients continual software functionality enhancements.
Based upon your security settings, one or more users will receive automatic
notifications of updates as the Toolkit checks for them each time it is
initiated. When an update becomes available you will be prompted to download
it from the Craneware web site. Once you have downloaded and installed
the new release all other users will be prompted to update their local
software as they open their entity data files. Depending on your environment
this process could be accomplished via several processes.
Options checklist:
- Users operating in a
network environment may be set up to each individually be notified of
new releases. The first user to open Chargemaster Toolkit™ will download
the update from the Craneware web site and save it in the download folder
on the network. All subsequent users will also be prompted to bring in
the download but as the appropriate file already exists, the Toolkit will
automatically run the upgrade. Thus only one user actually downloads updates
from the web site.
- It is possible to limit
upgrade prompts to just one or two users. This allows control over when
to download upgrades from the web site and eliminate potential confusion
for other users. The appearance of the new installation file in the appropriate
location will act as a prompt for other users to access the upgrade. All
remaining users are still required to apply the new release to their data
files prior to accessing them.
- Users with workstations
independent of a network will each individually be notified of new releases,
download the updates from the Craneware web site and apply them to their
PC.
Key information and lessons from the field:
- The download
of upgrades from the web site can normally be completed in less than 10
minutes. This is dependant on the speed and reliability of your web connection.
- After each
update, the Toolkit will process your charge items against any new rules
and regulations contained in the release. The Toolkit will automatically
move charge items affected by regulation changes to the appropriate tab
for your attention.
- Take a few
minutes after upgrading to review the release notes provided for your
information (Help > Release Notes). This will
greatly enhance your ability to benefit from these changes.
