Modifier Mismatch
The Modifier Mismatch module
is available as a separate plug in module to the basic core CDM product.
For pricing, please contact our sales department.
Modifiers are two-character
codes that can be used in conjunction with a CPT® Code to further define
its intent. For example: RT: Right can be used to denote a treatment performed
on the right side of the body.
The Modifier Mismatch
module uses Medicare guidelines to check that a charge's modifier represents
an acceptable match when compared with the charge's CPT® or HCPCS code.
If it does not, then the charge item will appear on the Modifier Mismatch
tab in the main window. A description of the current modifier and hints
for its use are displayed in the Active Info window, including the reasons
why the modifier has been flagged as inappropriate for the current charge
item.
To work with items on the
Modifier Mismatch tab
- Click on the Modifier Mismatch
tab and ensure that the Active Info window is displayed (Tools Active Info >).
- Select a charge item.
- Review the information on
the Active Info Modifier tab.
- Right-click on the charge
item and choose CPT® Modifiers from
the drop down menu. You can now choose to either:
- Replace the current
modifier with one of those suggested.
- Append one of the
suggested modifiers to the current modifier.
- As
you move your mouse over the suggested modifiers in the popup window,
the information in the Active Info window is updated to show appropriate
hints for their use.
- Repeat steps 2—4 above until
all the charge items have been moved off the Modifier Mismatch tab. []
