Active Code Book Search

Right click the charge item.
Select Search AMA Code Book for... from the right-click menu.

The search made is based on each individual word in the description of the charge item. The search facility is able to prioritize the results to display the closest matches at the top of the list.

You may obtain further information on each of the HCPCS codes by:
Clicking on the bold, blue and underlined heading of each search result. This action updates the Active Code Book with the relevant information regarding the selected code.
Clicking onto open the HCPCS Information Tool. You may open any number of information windows if you want to compare details. See HCPCS Information below.

Scroll through the results of the search, to identify the most appropriate CPT code, using:

When you have identified the details appropriate to the charge item you can apply them to the charge item by clicking on the blue links for:
Use Description — applies the AMA Short Description.
Use HCPCS Code — applies the HCPCS Code
Use Default Rev Code — applies the stated default Revenue Code

To refine the search results
1. Place a check in the Omit Deleted and Replaced Codes check box.
and/or
1. Edit the search word or phrase to just the keywords.
and / or
1. Review the search results and place checks in the checkboxes of each item of further interest. Click on the Select button to view only those items selected.
