"Managing your Emergency Department's Revenue Cycle"
A Craneware Boot Camp - 5 CEU credits from AAPC

October 7, 2010 | 7:30am – 4:00pm
Hotel Valley Ho | Scottsdale, Ariz.

In just one day, you will learn the sound fundamentals of managing the revenue cycle process in your hospital's Emergency Department. Your instructor will be Craneware's popular healthcare consultant, Bill Malm, ND, RN. Bill will provide expert instruction in the following areas:

  • How registration can affect the whole revenue cycle
  • Complying with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)
  • Reimbursement for services provided "incident to" a physician's care
  • Regulations around physician supervision requirements, including a discussion of CMS Transmittal 128 (May 28, 2010)
  • Avoiding "gotchas" on medical necessity
  • Identifying and assigning the correct orthotics and prosthetics codes
  • Working with your chargemaster (bring a copy)
  • Creating your audit protocols

The workshop will also address the specifics of coding and billing for diagnostic tests; injections and infusions; supplies; critical care levels; CMS' 11 guiding principles for evaluation and management; observation obstacles; and the impact of modifier 25. Gain sound advice on auditing the emergency department for consistency, documentation and post-pay review preparation.

Cost of the workshop is $350, which will be invoiced to your organization.

We have negotiated a special $149/night room rate at the Hotel Valley Ho. Your registration confirmation letter will tell you how to obtain that special rate.
